2. Process
2a. Commission Stages
Character Commission Stages
To request a commission, you must fill out this form. I will then contact you to begin the commission process.
Stage 1 - Thumbnails: 3-6 initial thumbnail sketches will be done to help get an overall feel for the piece and determine poses. You will be able to choose 1-2 thumbnails to be turned into rough sketches.
Stage 2 - Rough Sketches: 50% down payment is due before this stage begins. Poses and major details like props or accessories must be finalized by this stage. You must choose one of the sketches to be cleaned up. Another sketch will be provided to reflect edits before moving onto lineart.
Stage 3 - Lineart: Sketch will be lined and cleaned up further. Revisions are reserved for minor adjustments within reason.
Stage 4 - Flat Colors and Shading Sketch: At this stage, you cannot revise the lineart. The base colors of the lineart will be colored in to check the local colors. If there is a special shading request (such as light emitting from a prop) they must be specified at this time. A rough shading sketch will then be included and must be approved before a final pass is done.
Stage 5 - Final Drawing: At this stage, only changes to base colors and color adjustments (like filters) can be done. The remaining 50% of the commission must be paid, and the final file will be emailed to you. Once the commission has been completed and delivered, there will be no revisions or refunds.
2b. Communication
Communication is done primarily through e-mail or Twitter DMs. If I haven't answered your initial message after a week, feel free to send me a follow-up message and/or contact me through another channel of communication. Please be very clear that you want to commission me.When filling out your commission form, please be as detailed as possible and provide reference pictures for your character, poses, etc. More information always helps, even if it's a drawing on a napkin. Text-only descriptions will not be accepted.Once I confirm that I have seen your message, we can choose a preferred method of communication to work out your ideas. There is always a possibility that I may not be the right artist to fit your needs, and I completely understand if that is the case. The early stages of communication are vital in determining as soon as possible, and will help both of us save time.Check-ins will occur at the beginning of each stage. It will include screenshots and are opportunities for revisions. All screenshots will include a watermark. Please use these opportunities to the fullest so we can include necessary details and correct mistakes early. The later we get into the process, the harder it will be to make changes.I will not move on to the next stage until everything up until that point has been approved. I will send a follow-up message if I do not hear from you after 1 week, but if I do not hear from you after 2 weeks, your commission may be cancelled. Please let me know if there may be issues on your end in terms of communication.I have the right to cancel a commission due to poor communication, rude, or inappropriate behavior. If you are unsatisfied with my work, please let me know so we can communicate and work out a solution. If you have any questions or concerns throughout the commission process, I will address them to the best of my ability.
